Hosing Resilience & Programming which help communities form, stay in place, touch, and thrive, by creating the opportunities for people to be able to equitably and easily meet their own and neighbors’ needs. Healthcare, Education, Maker Space + Jobs Training, and Food Distribution are many broad categories of localized need which innovative programmatic relationships and architecture may make more accessible and less intimidating.

Rating food insecurity in L.A. are spiking after sharp decline

Nearly a quarter of UCLA students experienced food insecurity over the last 12 months - up 7 percentage points since the end of 2021, according to a new study released by UCLA Emergency Food.

Programing

A primary objective of the projecrt is to demonstrate the power of program in the expanded field of architectural design. To that end, the phased term project presents an opportunity to create new programs that will cultivate new architectural and urban form.

There will develop programmatic and architectural ideas for rethinking approaches to a range of emerging and entrenched issues in Los Angeles: 1. sustainable, cost-effective, and timely adaptive re-use of

low-quality construction; 2. emergency accommodations for unhoused and housing insecure Angelenos; 3. Targeted programs for community resilience; and 4. housing justice. The project will move from fieldwork, research, and humanistic study, to concept development, to spatial-demographics, to site design and building program, to schematic formal development.
